A showroom turned into a design meeting point

The esPattio and Forma 5 showroom at 214 Valencia Street has been transformed into an epicentre of creativity and networking.

For weeks we have welcomed clients and professionals from Spain and abroad to present the latest innovations in design furniture and create synergies in a relaxed atmosphere.

Participants not only had the opportunity to see our current catalogue, but also had exclusive access to prototypes and new products not yet launched on the market, such as the Baelo table collection, the new version of the Amivera table and the future Aldea armchair, as well as taking part in a social media competition to win a Platero!

An immersive experience: creativity, colour and craftsmanship

At Impulse Days, we did not limit ourselves to showing our designs, but invited visitors to immerse themselves in the creative and artisanal process behind each piece of designer furniture.

Through various interactive workshops, professionals from the sector were able to experience first-hand what it means to create, personalise and assemble multifunctional furniture.

Colourimetry workshop: the art of capturing the essence of colour

Colour is part of our identity. That’s why we organised a workshop where the participants became real artists, why not! They mixed acrylics under a stopwatch to achieve the tones closest to the esPattio colour palette (and it was very, very good).

The experience was not only fun, but also allowed them to understand the importance of visual harmony in furniture design and how colour influences the perception of space.

Upholstering a Bow Lounge: the precision of craftsmanship

bow lounge furniture

What does it take to upholster a Bow Lounge chair? More patience and skill than you might think!

In this workshop, participants put themselves in the shoes of the craftsmen who work every day to produce our designs.

They experienced first-hand how to tighten the fabric, how to make sure there are no wrinkles in the upholstery, how and where to place the flanges, etc.

Of course, this whole experience was led by our sales team, so they weren’t doing it completely on their own (seriously, doing it completely on your own at first is very difficult).

In this way, the people who took part were able to appreciate the craftsmanship and quality behind each piece.

Assembling a Marina chair: the design in your hands

The Marina chair is synonymous with versatility and elegance, but what’s behind its assembly?

In this workshop, we invite you to assemble one of our star chairs and understand every piece, every joint and every detail that makes this collection ideal for restaurants, hotels and coworking spaces. Here are some pictures!

A green approach: from recycled materials to small gestures that make a difference

At esPattio and Forma 5 Group, we believe that sustainability is not just about big speeches, but also about the small details that make a real difference. During the Impulse Days, not only did we show our progress in sustainable design, but we also made sure that everyone who attended took a little piece of this philosophy home with them.

Recycled materials that bring our creations to life

We have long been committed to fabrics and materials with a positive impact, and at this event we presented new sustainable finishes that are already part of our catalogue:

  • Just & Renewed Loop, the new fabrics from our supplier Gabriel, made from recycled materials and designed to reduce environmental impact without sacrificing design or quality.
  • Recycled plastic in the Amivera table, one of the great novelties of the event, whose top is made of plastic waste and fishing nets recycled by Gravity Wave, transforming marine pollution into designer furniture.
  • Recycled plastic sheets in the Libro bookcase, created in collaboration with PLASTICPeople, which transforms waste into stylish and functional pieces.

Gifts with a story: when sustainability becomes a unique detail

But we didn’t want sustainability to be just about the products on display… we wanted everyone to experience it first hand! That’s why every attendee received gifts made from recycled materials, demonstrating that even small gestures can make a difference:

  • Recycled fabric pencil cases and bags, made from leftovers from our production and given new life as a practical accessory with a story.
  • Leather key rings from Ubrique, handmade in artisan leather workshops such as Villagrán Leather from the same leather scraps we use in products such as Brisa or Platero. And best of all, everyone had to make their own!

Responsible manufacturing and commitment to local suppliers

Beyond recycling, we believe in the importance of supporting local manufacturing. Instead of relying on off-site production with high transport impacts, we work with nearby workshops and manufacturers that allow us to:

  • Reduce our carbon footprint by minimising the movement of materials.
  • Promote the circular economy by reusing fabrics and materials that would otherwise be discarded.
  • Support local craftsmanship by working with small, specialist workshops that add unique value to each piece.

During the Impulse Days conference, we didn’t just talk about sustainability, we made it tangible. As well as learning about our materials and processes, attendees were able to participate in the creation of products made from recycled materials, such as the key rings, and understand first-hand the importance of each decision in furniture design.

Baelo, the most avant-garde meeting table, is here to stay

This new design blends a bold personality with simple shapes to host everything from informal gatherings to critical decision-making sessions.

This month is packed with news for esPattio! Today, we wanted to introduce our first range of meeting tables. Baelo stems from our desire to venture into the world of meeting table design and diversify it, making it adaptable to all types of spaces, from corporate offices to restaurants and even for the home.

Designed by Italy’s prestigious studio Archirivolto Design, Baelo comes to market combining the commitment to quality that has been Grupo Forma 5’s hallmark for decades with esPattio’s signature Light, Colour and Warmth.

Would you like to know which colours and finishes will be available? Are you intrigued by the story behind our first range of meeting tables? Take a look at this short article and discover what will surely become your favourite meeting table!

The meeting table that defines innovation at its source

Perhaps Baelo’s greatest feature is its pedestal – in the shape of a bell or an inverted cup – which is created using the innovative rotomoulding technique. The process involves feeding a liquid or powder polymer into a mould, which is placed in an oven at a high temperature and rotated on two perpendicular axes around its centre of gravity. This allows the polymer to adhere to the mould’s walls. This results in much lighter pedestals than we would be able to manufacture using other techniques.

Thanks to this process, we have managed to create a hollow and seamless polymer pedestal, making it a perfect choice for the electrification options offered for each of the tables in the Baelo range.

The rotomoulding process is also part of our sustainability initiative. It not only means a drastic reduction in waste as long-lasting and harmful as plastic, but also a reduction in energy consumption, as this process is much more energy-efficient. Two ways that help us to take care of the environment From our skin, for the Earth.

Baelo, the perfect table for any meeting

Normally, when we think of meeting tables, we imagine impersonal environments, formal discussions and enclosed, dark spaces. Baelo casts all these stereotypes aside and stands out thanks to its unique value: its adaptability.

Baelo can be adapted to almost anyone’s needs. It is available with round, square, rectangular, elliptical and barrel-shaped tabletops. It also comes in two different heights: 74 cm medium tables and 110 cm high tables. The high tables are only available as a round, square or rectangular table. Finally, Baelo has the option to vary the number of pedestals that make up its base, from one pedestal for individual tables up to five for its larger configurations. Added to the infinite number of dimensions available for its tabletops, this makes Baelo a perfect table not only for any meeting room in an office building, but also perfect for use in dining rooms, restaurants, conference rooms, libraries, rest areas or even a home office.

In a sector where users demand furniture that is easy to understand, manage and transform, Baelo exceeds expectations by integrating seamlessly into any office or restaurant space. According to its creators, the Italian designers from Archirivolto Design, Baelo “has brought a touch of that home feel to the sector, which is necessary to add warmth to often sterile and impersonal office environments”.

Baelos “Light, Colour and Warmth

As you will already know, the soft seating brand esPattio offers products that break the mould in the traditional office, and Baelo is no exception. An infinite number of colours and finishes are available for its pedestal and tabletop to personalise Baelo according to your preferences, making it the perfect addition to your project.

Starting with its pedestal, produced in black or white using the rotomoulding process, it can be lacquered in any of the colours esPattio offers for this range. In an exclusive interview, part of the Archirivolto Design team told us that their preference for the pedestal was cold colours such as Black, Sombra or Alcázar, since “they are colours that clarify the shape and enhance the piece’s surface”. However, the other half of the Italian studio indicated that they preferred warm colours such as Gorafe, Duna or Cal. Two radically different preferences comfortably covered by our colour range available for this range of meeting tables.

As for the tabletop finishes, esPattio offers materials that include lacquered wood in the esPattio colour range, Dekton board in Eter, Soke, Umber and Nacre or the Archirivolto Design team’s favourite: European oak.

All the finishes for the pedestal, plus the tabletop finishes and the multiple dimensions available, give rise to an infinite number of personalisation possibilities for Baelo, which you can view in its Catalogue, by visiting our Seville premises after contacting our sales team, or by making an appointment at our showrooms across the world.

Baelo and its sustainable value

At Grupo Forma 5, we have been committed to sustainable growth in the furniture manufacturing sector for years. One of our great values in this regard is eco-design, which means that we design the piece to be sustainable from the moment we start thinking about it – not by merely making concessions during the manufacturing, distribution or sales process. Baelo is designed to be fully recyclable. 100% of its cardboard, wood, steel and polyethylene are recyclable, making it a product whose life cycle can be repeated at least six times.

The paint used to produce Baelo pieces is powder-based, with no volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Grupo Forma 5 has been committed to reducing emissions and waste from paint for over 20 years, from eliminating VOCs to reusing epoxy particles, recovering 83% of remaining particles using automated booth filters. This manages to eliminate the contaminating material.

DSIGNIO unravels the secrets of the pouf armchair, Platero

The designers of the new design tell us exclusively about all the details behind their latest creations.

Founded in 2002 in Madrid, DSIGNIO is the union of designers Patxi Cotarelo and Alberto Bejarano. This interior design and product studio is the creator of our latest launch: Platero.

With a trajectory of more than twenty years, the designers have been present at the best European design fairs and position themselves as an important studio in the concept of ‘Integral Design’, achieving this type of design in five Spanish hotels.

In this exclusive interview, Patxi Cotarelo and Alberto Bejarano unravel the secrets, inspiration and concerns with Platero, their first design for the soft seating brand.

Do you want to know what they told us? Join us in this short reading!

DSIGNIO: “Platero is movement, freedom and play”

For DSIGNIO, Platero is “a different seat, a different furniture concept that offers many possibilities”. In particular, they highlight the symbiosis between a “curved base that allows us to swivel and change position easily” and a side table where “we can write, use the laptop, the tablet, use it as a lectern…”.

Despite its multiple functionalities, for DSIGNIO the most important thing about Platero “is not what it allows us to do, but how we feel when we use it. Platero gives positive sensations. Platero is movement, it is play, it is freedom, it reminds us of moments of leisure… and these sensations open our minds and make us creative when we work”.

DSIGNIO: “Platero goes beyond”.

The inspiration behind Platero “comes from childhood, from moments of fun. Sometimes, as adults, it helps to look back and remember when we were children because those moments can bring us a lot in the present”.

According to DSIGNIO, they hope the Platero design will “open up a little-explored avenue” and will be “a piece that contributes to creating vibrant spaces for ideas to flow in a relaxed atmosphere“. The idea behind Platero is that if a person sees it for the first time, they will have “a pleasant surprise” and “they will sit down, try it out and discover the sensation of swinging”.

The innovation behind Platero comes from DSIGNIO’s reflection on the state of the office workplace today. According to the designers, “a workspace doesn’t have to be a boring place”, but Platero goes beyond that. It’s an object that allows us to interact with it constantly. We can rock, relax, have fun, concentrate and use it for different purposes; it’s really versatile.

DSIGNIO’s favourite colours for Platero

In Platero, esPattio brings out all its chromatic range of fabrics. Atlántico, Doñana, Gorafe, Maceta… There is plenty to choose from. For Dsignio, Platero “deserves to be accentuated with its upholstery, using colours that contrast with its beech wood with red, green or blue colours”.

Being such an original design, you may have doubts about where to place it in an office or your workspace. For DSIGNIO, “a good place in an office would be an informal meeting room, a space where we want to encourage communication and interaction between workers. At home, we can use it as a place to work in a room or the living room.”

It is easily transportable, so it doesn’t need its own space or a single use, as it is versatile. It also allows us to sit on it in different ways, so we recommend trying it out.

The future of DSIGNIO and esPattio

Platero is Patxi Cotarelo and Alberto Bejarano’s first design for esPattio, but we hope it won’t be the last. According to the designers, working with esPattio has allowed them to “bring to reality a project as particular as Platero, contribute and contribute to a daring, fresh and original catalogue“, highlighting esPattio as “a brand with a great future ahead of it”.

On future designs for esPattio, DSIGNIO commented they “have several ideas in their heads to define” and left the door open to collaborating again soon.

Platero, the pouffe armchair and the dream of the South

In September of 2024, a new product was launched, Platero, which is a combination of a side table and a classic pouffe. It is a symbiosis between the Andalusian artisan world of sculptors and image-makers and the new ideas of contemporary interior design.

Its warm wooden structure, colourful fabrics, comfort, functionality and bold design make this product one with the intrinsic esPattio hallmark: Light, Colour and Warmth.

Would you like to know all the details, what colours it is available in, the story behind this design, and the history behind this design? Join us on this ride and discover the guts of this seat!

Platero and his equestrian inspiration

This original piece finds its inspiration in the world of horses and the rural traditions of our land. Its shape, imitating a rocking horse, fills with life, nostalgia and originality any workspace or restroom where it is located. It is designed by Dsignio.

Such is its equine profile, which, to make the most of it, the whole team travelled to Jerez de la Frontera, specifically to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, to get to know in detail the twin spirit of this seat: the Andalusian horse.

In the photographic session, you can see how this original pouffe was perfectly adapted to the architecture and magnificence of the palace, the school’s headquarters, giving unforgettable images, face-to-face with the grace and splendour of some of the best examples of this prestigious school.

The Light, Colour and Warmth of Platero

Despite being a new design, it has all the features that you can find in the brand’s products. In its design, we see three parts: its wooden structure, its fabrics and its back handle.

The wooden structure, in beech, fills anyone who sees the product for the first time with warmth. Even though most of its structure is under the fabric, it stands out in its differential element: the side table. This table fills Platero with functionality. It can be used as a support for a laptop, tablet, notebook or book, allowing you to work or pass the time while enjoying the comfort provided by its pouffe concept.

It is the fabrics that bring out the full potential of its original and southern chromatic range, from warmer tones, such as Gorafe or Doñana, to cooler ones, such as Atlántico or Maceta. In this way, multiple customisation options are offered to adapt to the preferences of any project.

Whether you own one or intend to buy an esPattio product, you have available the finishes, upholstery and maintenance recommendations.

If you would like to know its measurements and other technical characteristics, click here.

Its rear handle is an optional element to the standard design, i.e. it may or may not be present on the product. This handle made of Ubrique leather facilitates the mobility of the product, making it a portable design throughout the office, favouring fluid workspaces.

A design adaptable to any space

As you may already know, esPattio, a brand specialising in soft seating, offers products that break out of the classic office mould, and Platero is no exception. Its colourful and original design seeks to give a touch of modernity to workspaces or other types of spaces.

Its versatility makes it functional in an office, serving as a support for quick meetings or as part of a creative coworking space in breakout rooms, such as a waiting room or hotel reception, or convivial areas, such as an interior patio or a modern café.

Furthermore, Platero not only offers pure and simple functionality but also provides design to the point that, as a decorative element alone, it is an essential value for any space that you want to furnish with a different, colourful and modern touch.
